The recipe calls for: 1 c flour, 1 t salt and all other ingredients... in "moderation"...
Many of us, including myself, in reference to the use of technology, have used the phrase..."as long as we use it in moderation", or "I think it is ok if used in moderation". Now, my question is, what is moderation? How do you measure that? Is 'moderation' the same measurement or quantity in all classroom settings? How does 'moderate' use for a teacher differ from 'moderate' use for students in the classroom and on homework assignments? And the why's. My opinion as to what 'moderation' might look like is this: Moderation in using technology is comparable to the moderation in use of something like field trips...you can use it in the course when you are relating how technology and your subject fit together, or when you want to show your students the applications of your subject field in the technological field in order to broaden their insight as to what kind of jobs, careers, and options there out there for that subject field. Now like we learned in Shamby's class if we have a student with a special need that can be met by using some form of technology than that would force me to redefine what I felt 'moderation' was and why. What do you think? What is your opinion of "technology in moderation"?
